Stress...

So I figured out that I needed a day planner of some form. I managed to forget a ton of things I wouldn't usually ever forget - the house payment, the monthly budget, etc. I was a bit depressed by the fact that, it is nearly May and all day planners for 2012 are probably nonexistent........texted my boss and asked if she happened to have one lying around and I was in luck! I got my hands on it today and it is quite attractive and small enough that I could carry it around often. Tonight I realized that I scheduled two things to overlap next week. I normally would not have done something that dumb, but it's obvious I'm not thinking clearly right now. *sigh* So I immediately grabbed the planner and started writing in it. So hopefully I can make use of it and form a good habit to keep track of things!

I went aurora hunting the other night and before I came home, I was desperately in need of a bathroom break. I was parked along the side of the road, in the dark, in a grassy area. I contemplated several times going the Alaskan way and going outside (not the first time...can't grow up here and not have that experience!), but I resisted :P I was telling C about it later...

Me: "I almost peed outside. So I was almost an Alaskan."
C: "So if you aren't Alaskan, then what are you?"
Me: "...Canadian."
C: 'Oh, they don't pee in Canada?"

I hope that wasn't too awkward or idiotic, but I laughed pretty hard.

Yesterday, I said goodbye to my coworker who is moving. It was super short and not very sweet - literally a hug and "Bye!" and she was on her way. It was a bit sad for its brevity, but I realized how nice it was to not be tearing up and feeling sorry for myself! Later that day, we said goodbye to one of C's brothers. It evolved into a nice family evening and we ended up staying until 11:30pm. We had both ridden our bikes to work that day and so rode to the in laws' after work and just stayed. I ended up playing board games and chatting with my mother in law while C had a great conversation with a brother. Needless to say, when it became 11:30, we needed to get home so we could go to bed. We tossed around several ideas, but in the end, we decided to ride home in the dark. There was still a little bit of daylight above the trees, but not much. We did fine, riding under street lights until we got to our street. That was a bit spooky and I was concerned about moose, but it was uneventful. I don't plan on doing that again, but it was an adventure for sure!

Housewarming

That freezing rain we had this past week really transformed the snow. I've heard numerous people say they have never seen anything like it. And I haven't either. The snow is a glossy sheet of ice. It's a shimmery, almost watery looking, beautiful, yet not safe =P Driving tonight at sunset, the bright colors in the sky looked great as we passed flat stretches of "fields" of snow, shiny in all their glory. You can even see reflections in the snow.. I tried to capture it multiple times, but it was not easy.

We went to a housewarming for one of C's coworkers tonight. It was a last minute decision to go, but it was fun. I pretty much stayed the wallflower (when do I not) while C was social, and he took off with the camera most of the time, which is a change. I got at least 2 comments on how lucky I was to have him as a husband, etc, which was cool :) The house was built for a lady who has been in a beat up, leaky trailer for a long time, and she really needed and deserved a new house. It's very cute and good for her. Seeing a nicely done place, all cute and quaint, made me want my my own place. Someday!

Hectic Wednesday

Hello everyone! I can finally post again. Monday night we had guys/girls nights for small group. There were only 3 of us girls, so we just ended up eating cookie dough ice cream with fudge sauce and cookies and talking. For about 3 hours. :) It's seriously a great way to spend an evening.

Tuesday....I'm not sure what happened yesterday. I did a bunch of homework. That's about all that comes to mind. I became more and more stressed out as the night wore on. I asked C what we did yesterday, and his response was, "I dunno, you did a lot of homework.."

Cut to this morning. I woke up late, at 10:30, and started right in on studying accounting for my exam today. I left before 1 and got gas and then went to my test. I didn't do so hot, but ah well. Came home, and frantically worked on homework that was due at 9pm tonight. Hopped in the shower left again. This time for dinner at Cups with my boss and my coworker. My boss got a gift certificate there from someone she buys from. And her husband didn't want to go, so we did :) I'd never been there before. Yummy yummy food! I got this bourbon roasted game hen with a bourbon sauce. Not for the bourbon, but it sounded really good. Of course it was a TON of food. The mashed potatoes were amazing, as well. I am stuffed even still. We decided not to go to youth group, because I got done right at 7, and I would need to pick up C anyway, which would take at least 20 minutes in total. So we're relaxing at home.

C's car is sitting lonely at his work. The part that needs to be replaced is going to cost over $350 because it's not available in the state. It's supposed to get here on Tuesday. So, we are a true one car family for the next week. Kind of a pain.

Ah, I did think of one thing from yesterday. The phone rang at one point, and it was my professor in Juneau. He wanted to see how things were going and such. He also asked me questions about the town and where I work and stuff. For a lot of homework and such, students need to give examples of such things, so he was asking me about them to get a better understanding. It was an enjoyable conversation. I love it when professors actually care about their students. :)

I recently ran out of room on my Flickr account. It will only show the 200 most recent photos. I don't really want to pay for it. Anyone know a good site to showcase photos? Deviantart is a pain, and Photobucket isn't good for what I want either. Any ideas?

So anyway, that's the news from here.

An emotionally eventful day

C came and brought me this single rose while he was on his lunch break :) The three ladies I work with were giggling away about it. But it was sweet. No reason, just he wanted to.

Today was emotionally draining for a while. We found out that my coworker's son apprently committed 2 breakins this summer around town, and possibly is connected to many more. He's in jail right now, and the whole family is coping. It's a very long and drawn out story, but suffice to say, everyone is hurting and in shock. He could be in jail for up to 5 years. If you all could pray for him and his family (he has 4 kids, as well) that would be wonderful.

Third thing. C took me to work this morning and I mistakenly grabbed the bag he takes and left my purse in his car. By the time I realized it, he had driven off. Said coworker let me borrow her car to go to C's work (a 2 minute drive, max) to retrieve my purse. C had brought it inside and as soon as I walked up and exchanged bags, his coworkers were like, "Ahh, so much better now!" :) And then I went to work.

Halloween

The Husband's coworkers made him participate in their Halloween deal today. They dressed up as the Village People and he was the cop. I got some pictures when I popped in before heading to work myself. We're waiting on the pictures that his coworker took. His coworker also took a video of them dancing to YMCA. It was pretty great.

My coworker came in with her 4 month old pumpkin. She was all smiles until I grabbed the camera and then she was mesmerized and got the deer in the headlights look. Oh well, she's still super cute!

Here she is!

Anyway, came home after work to already find little kids running up and down the street. We've been hiding out ever since, but managed to not get any kids! (Of course it has something to do with the fact that it doesn't look like we're in a duplex! Shh!)

Tomorrow we are picking up my brother in law and his fiance and we are having them over for dinner. Should be fun and a nice time to help them out. So I have to start cleaning up the apartment now! Eek!
