Anniversary Getaway Photos

As promised, here are some more nature oriented photos of our stay last week. Right after we got to our room, I was looking out the window when I saw this in the Bay. It went under several times, but I am pretty sure it is a sea lion. I've never seen one in the wild before, so I'd love some confirmation :)

It was huge!! I don't know how to convey just how big it was, but I took these photos from our room, which is quite a ways from the beach.

This was the first time I had seen the memorial bench dedicated to Jean Keene "The Eagle Lady". Two articles in the local papers give more details :)

At dinner, C made some comments about wanting a photo of the water glass because he could see the reflection of the mountains in the water....he tried, and I tried, and nothing turned out like we wanted....but I like this one anyway :P

Taken at 10:30 pm from our balcony :) The moon was so bright that night! I was attempting to take some star photos, but the moon was too bright on the side of the sky we were facing, so I settled for a moon shot!

It was a lovely time!

Tide Ablaze

When the sky is ablaze in color, even with a heavy cloud cover, I can't help but stand in awe, often missing the best shots!

Temporary Footing

When the temperature is low enough, the ocean starts to freeze. Ice bergs form and slushy waves change the landscape of the beach before your eyes. I love watching the changes and the beautiful sea green color in the waves.

Rainbow's Treasure

The light this evening was just wonderful. Golden sunset light peaking through the clouds, lighting up the sky as rain still fell. I didn't have too long before the sun disappeared.

Rainbow Dreams

I was already headed to the beach for the sunset, when I saw this rainbow as soon as I left home...I made it in time!

Rainbow Reflection

I was driving to Anchorage in September, and it was a very rainy day. I pulled over frequently to take photos, and there were rainbows peeking out constantly. I have stopped at this pulloff many times, but it just looked lovely on this particular day. I managed to have perfect timing, because a rainbow came out when I was ready for it, and faded soon after.

Crimson Clouds

One reason I love shooting waterscapes is due to the double explosion of color you sometimes get. The reflection often makes the image :)

Tall Clouds

I have been getting better at panoramas in the past year, and I really like this one. Some of the best sunrises and sets involve clouds that are spread all across the sky, and the grandeur of it is breathtaking. Thus, I've been working at panoramas!

Pastel Stillness

I was not too impressed with this sunset in person, but as time has passed, I have come to really love the images I captured that evening. The scene feels very serene to me.
